240 acre ranch on the Kootenay River in the Rocky Mountain Trench in southeast
British Columbia, Canada. This ranch is home to elk, whitetail deer, black
bear, wild turkey and ruffed grouse. The Kootenay River, which borders the
ranch for approximately 1 kilometre, contains an excellent cutthroat trout
fishery. In addition, Kokanee run up the river to spawn in September.
Whitefish, brook trout, burbot and other game fish are available as well. For
the birder, there are bald eagles, osprey, blue heron, Canada geese, and ducks.
The ranch has 4 springs that flow all year which can be gathered for commercial
rainbow trout-raising fishery. The ranch is located 15 miles in one instance
and 40 miles in another from two world-class quality ski hills. Swimming and
boating are available in the summer months in the Kootenay River. The ranch is
located approximately 240 miles north of Spokane, Washington and about the same
distance southwest of Banff and Calgary, Alberta. Air Canada and other carriers
fly daily to the airport located approximately 20 minutes from the ranch.
2-bedroom, 2-storey house, three new hay barns which hold about 400 tons of hay,
corrals which hold roughly 200 head of cattle, calving shelters which hold
approximately 40 head of pregnant cows, and calf shelters which accommodate up
to 100 head of new-born calves. In addition, there is a 2-stall horse barn and
a 2-storey heated garage with extra living accommodations on the second floor
currently under construction. The ranch borders Crown land, on which the owner
has grazing rights for approximately 5 months for 82 cow/calf pairs plus 4
bulls.
